First Annual Foam E-Z Boardswap Recap

The deals have been made, the beers drank, and first annual Foam E-Z Boardswap is in the bag. If you made it down then you know it was a hell of time. If you missed it… well then you really missed it. Things started off slowly enough, sure. As surfers there is a certain order to our priorities that cannot be interrupted, and with plenty of swell in the water that day and a contest happening south of the Huntington Pier there were a few early detours. As soon as the music started pumping (courtesy of DJ FreezKo) and the board selection continued to grow, the event really began to kick off.
Among the first to arrive was our great friend and event co-host, Seventh Wave Surf Shop, whose owner Kelli designed and printed some exclusive event t-shirts which were for sale. Not far behind were the good folks from Surfboard Broker, with near 50 used and pro shortboards in tow, as well as our friend Rob from Need Essentials USA who was on deck for fittings with their game changing high-quality, low-cost/gimmick wetsuits and accessories. Tim Stamps and Forrest Minchinton were around all day with some exclusive deals on boards and custom orders, while Robert August kept busy all day with a huge selection of rare and vintage longboards.
By noon the grill was fired up, the beer (generously provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon) was plentiful, and everyone had settled into a great day of hanging out and talking all things surfboards. Of course the day wasn’t just for the sellers and vendors, among the many curious buyers who stopped by that day, we also saw visits from local legends like shapers Lyle Carlson and Matt Bettis, as well as ’76 world champ Peter Townend.  When all was said and done, everyone in attendance was buzzing and stoked for the next event.

Huge thanks to everyone that made it out to this event and made it as awesome as it could be, we couldn’t have done it without your support and stoke! Needless to say, now would be a good time start combing through your quiver and saving those dollars while keeping an eye out for another boardswap event to come this spring!
